Dear FBC family,
Hurricane Dolly has undoubtedly disrupted the lives of everyone in the Valley. Many have suffered pain and loss both mental and physical. This is a time of great opportunity for God’s people to reach out to those around us through acts of service and love. A number of volunteers from First Baptist are out in the community doing just that – cleaning out homes, cutting down trees, and helping people in various ways.
The church is also involved in another way which may significantly affect us on Sunday. Baptist Disaster Relief ministries and the Red Cross have set up shop on our parking lot(s). In addition, the Baptist volunteers are staying in our building while they are here. Around 12,000 meals a day (lunch and dinner) are being prepared here and then are being distributed around the Harlingen area.
This is going to continue for several days and possibly will still be here on Sunday. Because of this, there will be no parking on the lot next to the main entrance and limited parking on the lot across the street. We will do our very best to indicate all possible places to park and will have extra folks out helping people find a place to park and showing them the best way to get into the buildings.
We are informing everyone possible about this in advance and asking you to exercise patience and understanding on Sunday. Real ministry is often messy and disruptive, especially in emergency situations. We want to thank you in advance for helping Sunday to go smoothly.
"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed Me. I was thirsty, and you gave Me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited Me into your home.
"And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these My brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me!'"
